Plants Marsh Marigold Marsh Marigold is in the crowfoot family, Ranunculaceae, and is one of the first early summer wildflowers to bloom in profusion. Its large 1’ – 2’ tall mounds of bright green succulent foliage fill roadside ditches, wetlands, wet meadows and the edges of streams. Leaves are basal and are heart- or kidney-shaped on thick hollow branching stems. The bright yellow 1” – 1 ½” flowers consist of numerous small stamens and pistils that are surrounded by 5 – 9 showy petal-like sepals and no true petals. Marsh Marigold is often found in the same habitat as False Hellebore. (See False Hellebore page.) - Deborah Benjamin This page was last updated on February 15, 2006 |
